What belongs in a storage quotation?

Compare the cost of owning, not only parking.
For a new acquisition, add the car’s purchase price, applicable taxes, registration, insurance, finance costs if any, maintenance and transport to the storage budget. A useful comparison
First-year cash outlay = purchase and applicable taxes + registration/delivery + storage and care + insurance/road tax + planned trips and fees.
Keep refundable deposits or guarantee collateral separate. For a longer-term economic comparison, also consider financing, depreciation and eventual disposal or permanent import costs.
No fixed saving is implied. A suitable island arrangement can be worthwhile for frequent visitors and existing owners, while someone needing daily mainland use may reach a different conclusion.

Include the vehicle’s duties and taxes.
The 2026 vehicle duties and tax rules apply a RM300,000 prescribed-value threshold to covered vehicles. Ask for the actual valuation and applicable import duty, excise duty and sales tax in writing. Older vehicle quotations do not establish current tax treatment.
Obtain the current road-tax amount from JPJ for the vehicle and registration category. Storage charges, service taxes where applicable, vehicle duties, registration and insurance are different costs; ask which are included in each quotation.
For conditional mainland trips, budget for transport and any guarantee fees. A guarantee’s face value is not the same as its fee, but collateral can tie up funds. Review mainland movement requirements before committing.

What to send for a useful price discussion.
Share the make, model, year, powertrain, expected storage start/end dates, current location and how often you expect to collect the car. Add remote viewing, detailing, maintenance and transport requests, plus any special care instructions.
Ask for a comparable annual total if you are evaluating a longer stay. Check whether a lower headline rate excludes work another provider includes. Ask how extensions and early collection affect the price, and who authorises extra maintenance.

Can you give a monthly storage price online?
No fixed tariff is published here. A reliable quotation requires the car, dates and requested scope. Contact Edison for a current written proposal.
Does storage guarantee a lower future import bill?
No. Storage duration alone is not a promise of reduced duties or a mainland transfer without tax. Any later import or transfer requires its own current assessment.
Are ferry and maintenance charges included?
Only if your quotation says so. Ask for inclusions, optional services and third-party costs to be itemised.
